What is Proniit Voice?

Proniit Voice is an alternative telephone service that works off your Internet connection. It cuts out unnecessary landline costs and you are only charged for your CallTime. Perfect for anyone with fixed or mobile Internet looking for a home or business telephone number that is flexible, affordable and easy-to-use.

How does it work?

Once you sign up for a Proniit Voice service, we’ll give you your own unique VoIP number. It works like a phone number, and you’ll use it whenever you need to make and receive calls over the Internet.

Do I get Rollover?

Yes, all your CallTime, including topped-up CallTime rolls over for 3 months.

How Many Devices can I use my SIP account on?

The SIP account can be configured on a total of up to 6 devices which then allows for up to 6 concurrent calls inbound or outbound.

Do I Need a VoIP phone?

We recommend that you make use of our VoIP-enabled phone, but there are other options available to you – such as mobile apps (like Zoiper) or your existing VoIP phone. If you have an existing VoIP phone, it is important to note that we may not be able to support or assist you in the configuration of your current phone.

Do I have to use a Proniit Voice phone?

If you are using another handset that was not purchased from us, then you can manually enter your Proniit Voice Details. Just make sure you never give these details out to anyone, as this could compromise the security of your account.

Can I use it on my Smartphone?

Absolutely! You can use it with any compatible SIP/VoIP application for your phone. We suggest Zoiper – Free Version available for Android/iOS/Windows/Mac/Linux. Download Here.

Does it cost more to call an "087" number?

No, it does not cost extra to dial or for someone to call your own 087 number – it incurs the same cost as a normal landline.

How long does the RICA process take?

It can take up to three business days. We will inform you as soon as your RICA application is approved, after which you can use your Proniit Voice service immediately.

What documentation is required to RICA my Proniit Voice Number?

You’ll need Proof of ID and Proof of Residence. We need both the original documents present at the time of collection and copies for us to keep. Proof of residence can be a utility or retail bill less than 3 months old. For example, you can use your bank statement, DSTV, phone/cell account etc. Please make sure you provide the collection information of the person who will be using the Voice Service – as we need to RICA the Voice Number upon collection. This person must be present at the time of collection.

Can I keep my Geographic Number?

Yes. Proniit Voice is a cloud-hosted service, which means you can take your number anywhere in the world. If you have Fibre or Fixed LTE, then you can cancel your Telkom landline rental and port your number across. This includes all South African numbers that start with 01, 02, 03, 04 and 05. Mobile numbers such as 083, 072 and 061 cannot be ported.

What do I need to do to port my Telkom voice landline to my Proniit Voice service?

You will need to supply us with a copy of your Telkom telephone bill (please note that your account needs to be settled, or Telkom will not release your number) and an authorisation letter which will be supplied to you. Please note: you cannot port a number with a DSL service on it if the DSL service is not provided by Telkom. DSL service provided by other ISP’s need to be cancelled first.

How long does it take to port a Telkom number?

It can take up to 14 working days (once your account is settled).

What are the payment options?

You can purchase your service via debit order or credit card.

What's this all going to cost?

There’s no monthly line or rental fees for Proniit Voice clients. You’ll only pay for your CallTime on a monthly basis, that you can use to call other mobile & landline numbers. Calls to Proniit Voice subscribers are free. Remember that local and international call rates apply.

Does Proniit Voice work on WiFi, 3G, ADSL, Edge connectivity?

The Proniit Voice service is entirely dependent on the quality of the Internet connection you are using when making or receiving a phone call. Which is why we only recommend connections that do not generally suffer from congestion or high latency such as FTTH (Fibre to the Home) or Fixed Home LTE. Other connectivity types, such as ADSL, 3G, WiFi or Mobile LTE will work. However, we do NOT recommend relying on these connectivity types as they are prone to congestion and high latency which result in poor call quality.

What do I need to use Proniit Voice?

  • An uncongested Internet connection such as Fibre to the Home (FTTH), Fixed Home LTE, or DSL.

  • An active Proniit Voice service with a positive CallTime balance.

How much does it cost to call to an 087 number?

The cost to call our 087 number is dependent on the network you are calling from. For example, if it’s a local call from a Telkom number to a 087 number they charge 67c per minute during office hours. We suggest you ask your service provider to supply you with their latest call rates.
