If you need to search for any information on the Internet where shall you go for? The easiest answer is the search engines. Obviously most of the Internet users go for the search engines to satisfy their search quarries. And this is the very reason why there is a rush among the webmasters to get the topmost ranking. To be on the first list and on the top most ranking the webmasters eager to do anything. And this gives birth to the search engine optimization. Search engine optimization actually is the study of the working procedure of the search engines and to work accordingly to gain better ranking. And this process various methods are being utilized.

But for the best concern it must be said that besides various policies are being adopted by the webmasters and the SEO service providing companies that they employ there always remains some risk of mistakes. Here in this article we shall discuss about some of them.

Spamming: One of the most damaging effects for your company that can be noticed while doing search engine optimization is spamming. Stuffing your web pages and meta tags with your keywords and key phrases too is considered by the search engines as spamming. Even if your submitted articles are exceeding the keyword density it can also be tantamount to spamming. Also that if you leave your links needlessly, without appropriate content, in comments or messages on other blog sites and forums can be considered as spamming too by the search engines. It should be kept in mind that such acts would sooner or later get your website blacklisted and that would undoubtedly effect your ranking. Therefore it is essential to apply such methods that genuinely deserves good ranking and to be sure that would have a long lasting effect too.

Submission on search engines: Some of us may have the wrong notion that if they submit their website on the search engines, it may yield better results. But the fact is that all the major search engines perpetually crawl throughout the Internet to find and index new and newly updated web pages. Therefore there is no need of manually submitting your website to them. The focus should be on creating quality content for your website regularly. And that would undoubtedly attract the attention of the search engine spiders sooner or later and you shall be ranked accordingly.

Google page ranking: Most of the webmasters have their eye on the Google page ranking. But the fact is that it is being updated only 3-4 times in a year. Therefore it is not to be so much worried about. Therefore if you invest your greater attention on creating better contents and generating the maximum number of links that would be much more fruitful for your website. Though this is a long-term process but would improve your page ranking automatically.

Titles for your pages: It should also be well kept in mind never to give same title for every page that you have. Many of the websites are found to be committing the same mistake. Give every single page of yours a unique title. And let your company name be a part of that unique title. The point is that the search engines use the title for indexing therefore it is essential to provide separate titles with specific keywords in them.

Hiring an SEO Company: For the best concern it should be kept in mind before hiring any SEO Company for Search Engine Optimization, never to do it in a hurry. The Search Engine Optimization is the most crucial thing for the better ranking of your site. Therefore it is essential to gather sufficient knowledge about the company. Therefore choose your SEO Company carefully and never let go your investments wasted away as wrong optimization can harm your business as well. It should also be kept in mind that you shall need to carry on optimizing as long as you continue your business, as it is not a single time job to be done.

By now most web designers and developers know that JavaScript causes a real headache for search engine spiders. There are however a number of scripts which, whilst not absolutely essential to the functioning of a site, are nevertheless very handy. So where do you draw the line between keeping your page as search engine friendly as possible and including reams of JavaScript to achieve the desired effects?

You may be surprised to learn that there is an alternative which keeps search engine spiders (reasonably) happy whilst drastically cutting down on the necessary scripts within any given web page.

External JavaScript Source Files
Let’s take the humble “Add Bookmark” script as an example (please note that I have replaced the < > brackets with [ ] brackets so as to be able to display the code properly within this article).

[script Language="JavaScript1.2" type="text/javascript"]
var bookmarkurl = “http://www.doodademporium.com”;
var bookmarktitle = “Purple Doodads for sale”;
function addbookmark()
{
if (document.all)
window.external.AddFavorite(bookmarkurl, bookmarktitle);
}
[/script]

By placing the script’s function into an external folder and file (/java/bookmark.js for example) you will be able to streamline your code down to the following:

[script Language="JavaScript1.2" src="java/bookmark.js" type="text/javascript"][/script]

It’s worth remembering that this is probably one of the simplest examples of JavaScript out there and that the savings in terms of code are going to be substantial with larger scripts.
This method is also worth its weight in gold, so to speak, if you are running a number of scripts on the same page.
Just remember to create a different source file for each script, so as not to confuse matters unnecessarily.

Through the use of external JavaScript files you not only save yourself having to write (or even copy/paste) the same bulky scripts again and again, you are also saving search engine spiders from becoming seriously disillusioned with your web page and going elsewhere in search of easier prey.

Always remember that any web site should make a search engine’s life as easy as possible.
If you do use JavaScript in your pages, this approach will prevent unnecessary complications when having your site indexed, whilst at the same time easing your task of coding.

Using Social Sites is something that most people are already aware off. So getting started within the social network that you currently use is a great start. Get your friends to help promote you and you will see as your traffic increases and you turn advertising into sales or make sales off your own product. As time goes you can begin expanding over other social networks and bookmarking services ensuring that all of your sites content gets book marked in the various social networks that there are. This next step should help to expand further in both your traffic and your revenue generation.

Once you’re here there isn’t much else you can do except write great traffic and let the process automate itself. Make sure you book mark with all of your keywords intact and that your content is usable for the visitors to your site.

Another nice way to keep visitors coming back for more is using an email list or RSS (Real Simple Syndication feeds) within your site. Returning visitors add a lot of value to your site.

The best way to make use of any of this is to ensure that it looks natural and that you, under no circumstances, SPAM the search engines or social media networks as this will definitely get you knocked out!

<–End –!>

A question that is most often asked to me by people all over. It has a simple answer and more importantly a straight forward answer. But before I address that question let me explain what a web site is in plain and simple terms.

A web site is a collection of virtual pages stored on a network or a PC that can be accessed using a web browser.

So, now that you know what a website is, let us answer a few more questions that are common:

What is a domain name? A domain name is an identification label to define a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control in the Internet, based on the Domain Name System (DNS).

How do I register a domain name for my company? It is simple. Visit co.za for more information on how you can get your domain name. You will be shown how to do it, where to make payment etc.

So now that you know these few things let us look at how you can get yourself a website. There are many ways that you could learn to get a website up and running and no one way is better than the other is. You could stop over at your nearest bookstore and browse through the many resources that they may have, you could head over to your local library to check out their resources or you could hire a professional web design company. This all really depends on your needs.

If you plan to use your website for personal reason then there are plenty of free ways that you can get a website. Try WordPress, Blogger, or HubPages. These sites offer you free ways of getting your ideas and information out on the web and some of them can even hel you make money from it.

If you plan to develop a high-end business presence then I suggest that you start looking into ways to get your own personalized domain name and begin developing your web presence from scratch. You would not want to look like part of the heard in this case.

It is always advisable for you to get as much information as you possibly can before you go ahead and hire someone to complete your online projects. Ask them questions, have a look at the type of work they have done in the past, compare prices and ensure that you can have a one on one with them.

Once you have decided to start creating a website whether it is for yourself or for a client, it is vital that you keep the following things in your mind such as:

1. Keep your site user friendly
2. Content is king and should be unique, informative and helpful
3. Beauty in simplicity – keep your design simple but impressive
4. Navigational ease – let your readers/customers find what they are looking for
5. Loading time should be as short as possible
6. Your site should offer short and precise information on what it is about

Firstly always bear in mind that design of your site should be simple and professional. Design should be such that it impresses the visitors on their first visit. Images on your site should be crystal and clear but still small enough to allow for fast loading.

The next most important thing is the content. People generally visit your site for the information. So it is necessary that you should provide something to visitor which is unique. If you selling a product or providing services to your customer then it is necessary that you should provide proper and complete information to the customer. You should also include customer reviews and testimonials to win the visitor’s trust.

Third important thing is that the navigation of your site should be simple and clear. Visitor should navigate from one page to another easily and if possible then your all internal pages should be well connected to your home page.

You can also use flashy graphics to enhance your product but don’t use them in excess as it increases your loading time.

Do not use unique fonts and bright colors. If you are selling a product and providing services then you must create a separate product or service page in your site. This is the key to your business success.

While I was surfing the net just now I came across a site with loads of useful information on various coding that is used in web sites and web development today. I was shocked at the amount of available information and even more amazed that it is all free.

What really grasped my attention was the Online Certification Program that this web site offers. It says “The perfect solution for professionals who need to balance work, family, and career building”, which I think properly describes its function.

The web site itself is easy to navigate, pleasing to the eye and makes the most relevant information available with single clicks.

Okay, the website is http://www.w3schools.com/ for those of you too impatient to continue reading… go check out their amazing resources.

I have found everything on this site from simple HTML to advanced SQL and Database development information. There are step by step tutorials, references, examples and of course the certification program in the following: HTML and XHTML, Styling with CSS, All XML Languages, Browser Scripting, Server Scripting, SQL and Database and it all remains free!

You can learn browser scripting, server scripting, multimedia and web building.

Overall, I think that this is an exciting web site that allows all new and advanced web designers and web-scripting developers should use either to learn new skills or to further your skills.

The web site aims to make the learning process efficient thereby saving you time on the entire process.

I know that I am definitely going to try my hand at some of their certification programs.

Just a quick shout out to the people that developed and sustain that web site – thank you very much for the great information! Two thumbs up!

While surfing the web I found this article and thought that it might be of help to the readers of this site. I have taken a liking to AJAX and we have developed many sites and modules using it. This is a simple introduction that may be of use to you.

“

Asynchronous JavaScript + XML, is not a new technology or a new programming language. It is a term coined in 2005 by Jesse James Garrett, which describes a “new” approach to using a number of existing technologies together, including: HTML or XHTML, Cascading Style Sheets, JavaScript, The Document Object Model, XML, XSLT, and the XMLHttpRequest object. It is a new technique for creating better, faster, and more interactive web applications.

When these technologies are combined in the AJAX model, web applications are able to make quick, incremental updates to the user interface without reloading the entire browser page. This makes the application faster and more responsive to user actions. With AJAX, a JavaScript can communicate directly with the server, with the XMLHttpRequest object. With this object, a JavaScript can trade data with a web server, without reloading the page. AJAX uses asynchronous data transfer (HTTP requests) between the browser and the web server, allowing web pages to request small bits of information from the server instead of whole pages. The AJAX technique makes Internet applications smaller, faster and more user-friendly.

AJAX is about better Internet-applications

Internet-applications have many benefits over desktop applications; they can reach a larger audience, they are easier to install and support, and easier to develop. However, Internet-applications are not always as “rich” and user-friendly as traditional desktop applications and most Web applications are slow and tedious. In the traditional Web application, the interaction between the customer and the server goes like this:

1.	Customer accesses Web application

2.	Server processes request and sends data to the browser while the customer waits

3.Customer clicks on a link or interacts with the application

4.Server processes request and sends data back to the browser
while the customer waits

5.	etc…. There is a lot of customer waiting. It’s a model adapted from the Web’s original use as a hypertext medium.

How Ajax is Different

An Ajax application eliminates the start-stop-start-stop nature of interaction on the Web by introducing an intermediary — an Ajax engine — between the user and the server. Instead of loading a webpage, at the start of the session, the browser loads an Ajax engine — written in JavaScript and usually tucked away in a hidden frame. This engine is responsible for both rendering the interface the user sees and communicating with the server on the user’s behalf. The Ajax engine allows the user’s interaction with the application to happen asynchronously — independent of communication with the server. So the user is never staring at a blank browser window and an hourglass icon, waiting around for the server to do something

Ajax Acts as an Intermediary

The Ajax engine works within the Web browser (through JavaScript and the DOM) to render the Web application and handle any requests that the customer might have of the Web server. The beauty of it is that because the Ajax engine is handling the requests, it can hold most information in the engine itself, while allowing the interaction with the application and the customer to happen asynchronously and independently of any interaction with the server.

Asynchronous

This is the key. In standard Web applications, the interaction between the customer and the server is synchronous. This means that one has to happen after the other. If a customer clicks a link, the request is sent to the server, which then sends the results back. With Ajax, the JavaScript that is loaded when the page loads handles most of the basic tasks such as data validation and manipulation, as well as display rendering the Ajax engine handles without a trip to the server. At the same time that it is making display changes for the customer, it is sending data back and forth to the server. But the data transfer is not dependent upon actions of the customer.

In today’s fast paced world, technology dictates that people need to keep up with growing trends in society as well as their chosen career paths. If people are not able to do so this can lead to you losing your job or not being able to get that promotion that you have an eye on for a very long time. This can lead to a lot of frustration in your daily life which can ultimately lead you to being very stressed and can further implicate negative job performance results. This is why I find that keeping up with current trends – in small increments – and sticking to proven daily techniques, makes it possible to turn any online business into a success.

Online marketing techniques involve starting a web site from scratch with internet marketing and SEO in mind -thereby ensuring that you are not only developing your website with the best practices but also opening yourself up to a wider market for search engine optimization.

Search engine marketing is an exact science that needs to consistently be kept updated with the latest technologies and knowledge that allow for precise screening, understanding, analyzing and implementation. Social media marketing together with search engine optimization and search engine marketing can greatly impact the result of a web sites revenue that is created from the promotional efforts, because you will find that some trends are growing every day and the market changes almost consistently you would have to be crazy not to make the very best of search engine marketing . It is one of the simplest ways to gain exposure for the company and the whole web site as well as keeping in mind that the results and effects of the marketing are measurable down to the smallest point, lead and/or sale.

Taking into consideration that there are various companies out there that can produce the results that you want; finding quality would have to be on the top of your list. If you search Google to find your business and the number of other web sites that offer the similar services that you do, it is likely that you will come up with hundreds of thousands of results and maybe even millions. Therefore the company that you hire should be able to properly determine your niche and be able to market to the best of their ability to that niche.

Search engine optimization, search engine marketing, social media marketing and on site optimization as well as the relevant on site optimization and navigation when designing a web site is very much understated in today’s online business society.

Almost everyone is capable of designing a web site but website design in itself is just not enough. Getting a friend, your son, your wife, your neighbour, or your seventeen year old nephew who has managed to push out of view websites in his time, is not going to make a difference in the long run but if you’re willing to spend thousands upon thousands of rands on advertising then go ahead. You might end up finding that the website remains dormant for many years while you’re competitors continue to rank up and make more money than you will ever and leave you crying for more customers. If this is the way that you wish to go then you should go ahead and continue with your own ideas.

Engage in constructive and inquisitive conversation with your selected company – Four all important questions you should be asking

But the idea of what I’m trying to say is that web designing and development in South Africa is very understated speak to your desired search engine optimization company or web design company or a company that does both and engage in proper and an inquistive manner and ask all the right questions such as:

How does this help me?

How does it generate sales and or leads?

How are results measured?

What are my options?

The more questions you ask the more likely it is that you will understand how web designing, development and such engine optimization go hand in hand and you may be pleased with the results and you may even want to do with trials before you going head and signed a new contract I hope that this helps your understanding of what’s a change and optimization as well as when development can do for you and your company.

The number one reason that free lance web designers fail at getting as much work as possible is that they just cannot keep up with the trends and technology changes that happen literally overnight. The web is evolving at a rate that not many people can keep up with and the new association with the integration of social media defines a whole new direction for web designers. The content and methods that are currently being used to keep web design and development alive with change are expanding with lightening speed.

[video filename=http://www.proniit.com/videos/1.flv /]

It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to keep the pace with technology and design – therefore many designers in particular fail. A good way to overcome this is to simply gather as much information as you can and start sifting through it until you can reach the likes of the more inspired web designers. It doesn’t heard to try new things and always remember that overwhelming amounts of information can be categorized, filed and learned in small bits and chunks until you get exactly what you are looking for.

In the near future I will be posting some tutorials on using photo galleries on your sites! Stick around, subscribe to my feed and stay updated with me.

Finding the right company to design and implement your website and development project(s) can be a tiresome process in itself and require a lot of research that may lead to uncertainty. To help alleviate some confusions I will walk you through what I believe a web design and development house should have under their belts to offer cutting edge design and development of your project(s).

Bear in mind that everyone requirements are different from the next person. you should ensure that your web design and development house can see your vision and goal and understands your market as much as you do, if not, better. Some people require simple web pages with just company information and contact details and in this case you can find a less reputable and/or established company and pay next to nothing to have your web presence available. However, there are companies that need online payments processed, large online stores and major graphics and or development tactics. In that case you should be prepared to pay the price or experience the negatives of amateurs.

Below are a six things to look for in a web design and development company:

1) Number of projects done. This is helpful to measure the amount of experience that a company has.

2) Will you be getting individual attention? This is important because you should a single point of contact so that you can have the necessities explain to you in language that you can understand and not technical jargon that would just confuse you more.

3) Don’t compromise on price. I cannot stress how important this is! Many people can design web sites, in fact, so can you. That said, how much do you actually know about design and implementation of a real, user friendly, dynamic website designed and implemented using PHP to allow for user interaction - do you know how to implement analytics, on page optimization, search engine optimization – etc? Well, if you do then stop looking for a web host and start designing your site! However, what happens if you do not? Then I suggest that you leave it to the professionals as it can take literally years to learn all that there is to make your website stand out, stand up and stand proud.

4) Quality – chances are that if the companies site itself is horrible looking (like so many “web designers’ out there) then they aren’t going to magically make yours look stunning. Also try and ensure that the company isn’t using templates for your site as this will inevitable bring down the value of your site and tarnish the image of your company.

5) Latest Technology – Prod and probe the company in question to ensure that they have the latest available technology and KNOW how to make use of it. The internet and technology is growing daily and your site needs to be a level above the rest.

6) Knowledge base and resources - How much does the company know about web design and development? Well, if you ask a simple question and recieve a whole of complicated answers with various potential pitfalls and the solutions thereof then you are probably dealing with someone who knows exactly what they are talking about! You should also ensure that the company in question has many resiurces avaiable and knows how to make use of them. No one knows everything but the company you work should be able to find and offer you solutions to the project that you want done.
