I have decided to give a short list of the various sites that provide great resources for web development and the like. Whether you are a skilled developer or still learning the ropes you will be able to find most of what you are looking for on these sites. From Open Source scripts to free icons; development tutorials and web templates, you will find them all here.
- Smashing Magazine – A great host of freebies for your designs and amazingly useful information that is constantly updated.
- Open Source Templates – Fro all your web design and development needs – all in this one site.
- HotSrcipts.com – I have never seen a greater collection of all the best open source scripts available on the net. They also have premium scripts but the open source versions far surpass anything that you pay for.
- W3Schools – This has got to be the best tutorial site that I have ever come across. It has all the latest standards updated and gives clear and precise ways to understand the information and examples for you to try.
- SourceForge.net – Needs no introduction or description. Everyone knows what this is. Okay, Okay… for those who do not… This site hosts almost every possible open source script that there is from server side software to client based scripts. Just do a search and you will see the great power of this site.
- Script & Style – This site introduces itself as: “Links to help you grow as a designer and develeoper”. Quite apt as the site is a social bookmarking system that only has links to design and development. Found some great stuff on there as well.
- Open Source Hunter – On the hunt for the best open source resources and more…
- phatfusion – has some very usable scripts for image galleries, lightbox and slideshows – amongst other things.
